Police Department

Mission Statement:
To protect the lives and property of the citizens and visitors of our town.
To enforce the laws and ordinances to the best of our God-given ability, while striving to improve the quality of life in our community.

The Ramseur Police Department has expanded greatly from the time the first officer was hired around 1923. Ramseur’s first Chief of Police, L.A. Kelly was hired in 1935 when the department was housed at 1537 Main Street. From the Main Street location, the Department relocated in 1978 to offices in the new Municipal Building. After acquiring the former bank building at the corner of Main and Liberty Streets, the Town completed renovations and the Department once again relocated in 2003 to its present location in the upstairs offices at 741 Liberty Street.
